What's Your Skin Season?
Since the early 2000's, I have researched and studied phytomedicine (the use of plants to heal the body). Over the years, I have learned that my skin has seasons! Recently, as I entered perimenopause, my body has a high need for moisture. From increasing my water intake to using humectant-rich skincare products, I find myself yearning for hydration. Living in South Dakota, my family also shares this same need. The dry, windy, and moisture-deficient environment makes our skin susceptible to dryness.

In other seasons of my life, I have applied phytomedicine study to:
-Skin maintenance (when my skin is relatively normal),
-Skin irritation due to severe food and environmental allergies
-Skin repair from skin cancer
-Skin conditions (such as chapped lips and chaffed skin) from being a long distance runner, triathlete, and outdoor enthusiast.

After 20 years of research, intentful study, and work, my daughter inspired me to create Golden Grass Naturals*. Each blend designed with a specific purpose in mind.

So, which season are you in?
Skin Maintenance
Is your skin good right now? Perhaps you want to venture into more natural, skin care products? Meet Golden Grass Pink! This blend has a mild vanilla scent and can be used as an everyday moisturizer and skin perfecter. Golden Grass Pink is made with our tallow base (South Dakota beef tallow, organic mango butter, and farm-fresh beeswax). Our homemade vanilla bean oil contains lavender and rose petals, to help soften and soothe skin.
Family Care
From baby butts to little cuts, Golden Grass Original is a great family staple! It is made with our tallow base (South Dakota beef tallow, organic cocoa butter, and farm-fresh beeswax). It also features a subtle cocoa butter fragrance and is enriched with jojoba and homemade calendula, which soothe and alleviate skin irritation on the gentlest skin. Hormonal/Anti-Aging
Golden Grass Gold is the upper echelon of skin care! During perimenopause and menopause, our skin biome becomes less efficient in overcoming the normal "wear and tear" of our environment and toxins. Additionally, the good bacteria that is found within our biome decreases, while dryness and skin irritation may increase. Golden Grass Gold is blended with pure beef tallow, natural, organic mango butter, and local farm-fresh beeswax. The anti-aging power of watermelon seed and carrot seed oils are also added. And we don't stop there! Sea Buckthorn is added as a deep moisturizer (contains high levels of fatty acid) and skin healer. Golden Grass Gold has a light vanilla scent.
Athletic Skin Care
Athletic skin care is designed for those who experience skin issues due to extreme environmental climates & conditions. As an endurance athlete for over 30 years, I have spent a lot of time and money looking for skin care products that do not impede on my training. For instance, I need a face cream that won’t irritate my eyes, body cream to relieve dryness from swimming, and a lotion to prevent chafing. Golden Grass Sport is made with ingredients to address many different skin concerns. We start with our tallow base (South Dakota beef tallow, organic body butter and local, farm-fresh beeswax). We add Abyssinian oil,a lightweight, non-comedogenic, non-greasy plant oil. Abyssinian oil is well known for its high omega 9 content, which combats environmental stressors. Arrowroot powder is also added to the blend to reduce the "oily" feel of tallow skin cream.
Troubled Skin
Thanks to the Blue Tansy leaf, Golden Grass Blue offers a light cocoa-mint scent and can reduce skin inflammation, while providing a skin-calming experience. Blue Tansy is known to soothe irritated, damaged, or sensitive skin, while also helping regulate sebum production, the natural oil produced by the skin.
